Roatan Backpackers’ Hostel is the perfect place for any travelling trekker to stay in – it has amazing views, great accommodations and is totally affordable on a backpacker’s budget! The owner is a woman named Mel who moved from Canada to Roatan and has been living on the island for about 14 years. She has worked in the tourist industry as a dive instructor which makes her the perfect person to own and operate a hostel in Roatan, Honduras. The hostel is very recent and has all the modern amenities but still holding up to the tradition of that ‘tropical paradise’ people visit Honduras for. The hostel is well constructed and very simple but elegant and charming in its simplicity. It is exactly what a backpacker would be looking for in a place to just stay and relax for a few days.
Roatan Backpackers’ Hostel is about a 10 minute drive from the airport. It is situated in a slightly secluded location, on an offbeat path which is why it may not be easy to find it. It is located in Sandy Bay, and can be found by taking the dirt road on the side. The hostel has amazing views of the entire area and is situated in a beautiful location.
There are dorm rooms, private apartments, loft room, two bedroom house, three bedroom house and long term rentals available at Roatan Backpackers’ Hostel. The lodgings are comfortably furnished and beautifully decorated but the best part is their affordability. The rooms really are inexpensive and for a traveler with a limited budget, Roatan Backpackers’ Hostel would be a dream place. The dorm rooms can be shared by the guests which helps them in saving a lot of money. If they don’t like sharing, the private apartments are available with a single bed, a nightstand, fan and shelves. Under the owner’s own home at the back of the hostel, there are 2 private apartments; a studio and a one bedroom place which are a great option for couples or a single person. The two bedroom house is also a perfect pick for couples traveling together. It affords privacy, comfort and affordability at the same time.
Again, Roatan Backpackers’ Hostel has designed activities keeping in mind the limited budget of the guests which is very thoughtful and smart. Tours are arranged for the Carimbola Botanical Gardens where tropical vegetation can be seen; like orchids, mango trees, cashews, and chocolate trees. Drinks at Sundowners are available along with tours of the Iguana Farm. Beaches can be visited for water sports or relaxing in the sun. Sandy Bay has great spots for snorkeling which is an ever popular activity. Island tours are also available with local guides, along with ziplining, glass bottom boat tours and horseback riding.
Roatan is famous for its scuba diving spots and is probably a diving heaven for serious professionals. There are great sites to be explored at only a short distance from the sea shore. If you are a certified diver, you can easily pick up diving gear and go take a dip in the beautiful waters of the Caribbean to explore the wonders within.
Roatan Backpackers’ Hostel has a common kitchen that can be used to prepare your own meals. But if you’re not in the mood for making your own food, there are plenty of places to frequent at any time of the day. These local places provide great, heartening meals which are full of flavor and very tasty. The pricing is again very reasonable.
